Today the nurse refused to give my sister medication since “her medicine is reserved for students that are planning on finishing the day” Last week the counselor (Ms.Dillard) cried/vented to an 15 year old child about how she feels bad she can’t do anything about students bullying her. Am I mistaken or is that her job ? To deal with students who are bullies and who get bullied. The treatment my sister is getting is unfair and unjust. Last year multiple students made hate pages making fun of her for her weight. Nothing was done then. Nothing is being done now. It’s quite sad that the counselor is crying/venting to a child because she knows there’s something she could be doing to make her have the right to a public education and feel safe in that environment. Please do better. It is a law that any government funded school is required to adhere to a students learning or environmental needs. She is being harnessed so therefore she does not feel safe in the environment. This needs to be handled. Republic Act 10627, or the Anti-Bullying Act (the “Act”), aims to protect children enrolled in kindergarten, elementary, and secondary schools and learning centers (collectively, “Schools”) from being bullied. It requires Schools to adopt policies to address the existence of bullying in their respective institutions. This means you need to take action rather that be a school assembly or doing team building activities that bring the students closer as a whole. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.
